Essential Questions for December 3-7, 2007

Reading- How do you read and follow directions for a recipe? What are conclusions? We will review the reading skills of main idea, facts, inferences, context clues and sequence. Guided Reading groups will read the story My Greatest Wish. Non-fiction conventions will continue to be covered using the Georgia Weekly Newspaper.

Writing- What are some elements of poetry? We will discuss rhyme, meter, stanza, syllables, patterns. The students will write their own version of the 12 Days of Christmas or Chanukah. We will also begin to write Twas the Night before..... using different versions of the story.

Spelling- Unit 13

Vocabulary- Cumulative Review of Units 1-8

Grammar- What are subjects and predicates?

Math- How is multiplication related to division? What is geometry? What are different types of angles? What are the different types of lines? What are 2D and 3D shapes? What are real life examples of geometry?

Science- What is a microscope used for? What is the proper way to use a microscope? What are the parts of a microscope?

Social Studies- What are rural, suburban, and urban communities?

Health- What is the right thing to do?

Character Education- How can we show gratitude? The students will write a literature response to Silver Packages describing what gratitude means.
