Our Soldier, Mr. Keeney, is home from Iraq! He is taking the time to come to Ford and meet the students. I would like to have a celebration to honor his service to our country. The students have enjoyed writing to him over the last few months. Mr. Keeney wrote personalized responses to each of the students for Valentine's Day.
Mr. Keeney is going to come to school to be our guest speaker on Wednesday, January 20th at 12:30. He said that he has been looking forward to meeting the students.
I would like to have the students wear patriotic clothes that day. They can also bring in any patriotic symbols that would be fun to decortate with or share. If your child has time over the break, they could create a patriotic project to share with Mr. Keeney. I want them to show appreciation, not generosity. After his presentation, we will sing some patriotic songs with Mr. Keeney.
Let me know if you have other ways that we can make this day special for our soldier.
